    hey guys,
i have a 1999 NBS silverado it the 5.3, ive got 105,000 miles and want to drop a new engine in it..
i have narrowed it down to the LS6, LS2 or the LQ4 6.0...can i just plug and play with all these motors??
whats a good tranny company because i figured i would just replace the tranny b/c i also want to do a STS to whichever motor i install....

What do you guys think....any advice would help.....

    thanks,
    justin

Any of those engines are going to be a direct swap, and very hard to decide on!
    They are all great.

If you're planning on going with a turbo, get the pistons upgraded, JE, Diamond etc, will be just fine. They can take a lot more abuse than the stockers.

Let me know if you're intersted, I can get you a great deal on a crate 6.0L, complete from harness to oil pan.

    good luck,

    allen

hey allen, thanks for the reply so fast...
either way i was buying a brand new crate engine...just could not decide what to get...i was thinking more about the LS2 with the STS because than I would be pushing im sure 500HP..and in a extended cab stepside silverado would be pretty wild and something no one will really see too often...

    Any more thoughts? suggestions?

whatever you think will work the best is what I will most likely do...thanks guys

Doesn't the LS2 have new knock sensors that won't work with previous LS1 PCM?

well i read up that a company makes wire harness extensions that work with the new knock sensors and the cam sensor...

you guys really think that a 6.0 with the STS will make better power than a LS6 with an STS?

Also i am buying a 4L65E and installing a TransGO HD kit to take the power for a little while...

    any more comments..please....

    thanks so far...

I am all for the LS2 conversion. Light weight and 6.0L works for me. Many companies have the extension wires for the cam sensor and knock sensor relocations. I have thought about that conversion too but opted for the LS1 for now. If I ever burn this one up I may go with the LS2 but I have to get my LS1 in the truck before I can break it! Maybe by then I can get one of the 6L65E six speed automatics to go with the LS2 engine.

yeah, i was thinking the about the same issues with the LS2, I know i can get the wire harness extensions, and its already a 6.0L and its a LS1 in theory, so its having the best of both worlds...I then i can buy a 4L65E and STS kit and be set...

What kind of rear-end work would I need? Do you guys think a locker would help hold some power or should i get a new rear?

Also i am keeping the 4WD and i have 20" chrome rims with 305/50R20 Nitto Terra Grapplers on them, so I wanted a bad-ass 4WD truck good for all seasons up here in NY...

During the summer I am going to either use 22" or 24" rims also to have the best of both worlds...

thanks guys...let me know if u think the LS2 w/ 4L65E swap with the STS is a good idea and what kind of power you think i will be pushing??

    thanks again
