    cutting = rust!! maybe not where you live but that has always been my general rule of thumb. Plus if you cut it that edge is going to be sharper than the factory one so if it does decide to rub again its going to slice a tire faster than before. I used the rubber mallet route, although I have never seen/done the baseball bat trick maybe it works better?

    My rule of thumb is if its cut, its gunna crack, due to the vibrations of everyday driving.

    that and you have some crappy, cut-up fenders, like the bedsides on my truck. One of the few things the original owner did that I do not agree with.
