    new cam

    hey everybody i hope some one can help me. i just got a cam out of a motor i was gonna build but dont have any clue what the specs are for it. these are the numbers on the cam....... 031 02R 586FM18.

    the numbers posted are usually the last numbers of a GM part number. Put them in Google along with GM + Cam and you'll find where they came from.

    It appears you may have lucked upon a GM LS1 Hotcam..

    well it deffinently has the "586" but i looked at a pic of the ls1 hot cam but it dont have the rear gear like mine has. i pulled the cam from an LT1 motor. Could this be a custom built cam with the same specks as an LS1?

    i dono but my friend said that there is a company that makes custom cams called Federal milling. he said they could have gotton the specs off a ls-1 cam and built it for a lt-1. I dono but i need to figure this out before i send my heads to the shop.

    Im starting to think it may be a LT-4 hot cam. i got the 96 vortec motor what do i need to do to my heads to run ths cam? im gonna use the rocker arms, push rods and lifters out of the lt-1.

    Ummmm the LT4 HOT cam came out long before the LS1 cam.

    I have roller rocker for Lt1 or Lt4 for sale in the sale section, 140 shipped for 1.5:1 roller rockers send me a pm if ur interested..
