I would never buy a tune from someone that wanted me to wait for them especially if I was stock.
I hear you, and I know I need to tread lightly on here. However, I'm not making money or commission off selling anything. I don't know the guy personally or babysit his kids on the weekends. I spend a lot of time on many different forums and I have read time and time again about reviews of tunes from different tuners.

I think to censor the thought of other competition on Ls1Truck or any website is downright silly. If it needs to be done, then so be it, that's not my decision to make.

I know Allen has a very successful and reputable business so it's in no way a bash of Nelson Performance. I just feel that information should be shared publicly just as long as it's factual and not nonsense.

No no I didn't mean to imply there was any censorship at this point. I just know that some sites will delete a thread in the blink of an eye at any sign of someone supporting a vendor who isn't part of the site. I hope that wouldn't be the case here.

At least Mark is honest about it. To each his own with tuning. Just like a few posters above said, who ever is closer to live tune, then do it. If you wanna drive down to NP to get a live tune. More power to you. I have heard a few horror stories about Nelson, but the facts are so outrageous. People expecting SO much in there radical setups from a mail order tune. A guy pushing 600 to the wheels down in Alabama doesnt have an exact mail order tune from Allen. A guy on TBSS whining his butt off because of some mis communication. Some of the stories are so ridiculous it's hard to hear all of them and BELIEVE them. I have heard good things about Blackbear, but the customers in this area are few and far in between from the sites I frequent as well.

But to each his own. Each site has it's own preferences. Every site is going to be biased for the most part. Just pick the one you see the best results from and go from there. A lot of us know allen personally and hang out with him often and know he is not what a lot of people make him out to be. One of the most humbiling people I know with a business that stretches over seas into the middle east. Just look at the results and make a decision.

I think what he is referring to is the same deal I have delt with on here...You are allowed to recommend someone else for tuning/performance parts but your not allowed to link info...I can recommend Justin for example but in the past if I post a link to his site it gets removed.

That happens on a lot of sites though. If the company isn't site sponsor it gets the boot.

I've always been very happy with my Nelson tune. The funniest complainers are the ones that say a speed density tune sacrifices driveability. I can show you multiple trucks including mine that work great hot or cold and any altitude. Also I know of one truck Allen tuned on the east coast that didn't run right. Retune after retune it still didn't run right. Allen asked him repeatedly to try another MAF sensor. The customer finally shipped the truck to Allen's shop. The first thing Allen tried was a MAF and guess what, it ran perfectly logging it with O2 wideband and all. Allen reloaded the first tune he sent and it also ran perfectly. After that Allen repaired all of the messed up install the customer did on the STS system and sent the truck back in perfect running condition. I'm sure there are pleanty of good tuners out there. Hell Allen will tell you the same. Just weigh the complaints with some doubt as to the condition of the customer's vehicle and their ability to mess things up!

i would go with a Nelson Tune mainly cuz he is right around the corner and its a free retune. I have spoken with Charlie before and i have respect for him and his tune (he is over at chevytruckworld.com). i have also heard plenty of ppl who have gotten a blackbear with positive results. You pick. If you dont like go with someone else.

Not to minimize anyone's tuning abilities by the comparison, but this discussion is like the ever-popular "which cold air intake is best?" discussion. They all have a tube with a filter on the end. They all function the same. Just make your decision...

Same with a tuner: Do your research and get the one that floats your boat...churns your butter...plucks your chicken....whatever. If they have a good reputation, you'll be fine.

One thing I've learned during my stay here: Pick one, two or maybe three people that know what they're talking about and take their advice. If you try to listen to/apply everyone's opinion that offers it - you'll be here forever debating what to do.
