I replaced the light resistor on my 99 with a blue LED, cant remember the voltage but it looks good and now I can enjoy using the switch.

Would any of you guys happen to know how to check the wiring of the ambient light sensor on a 2000 Silvy for shorts?

I have a DTC telling me theres a short having to do with that sucker. So how do I get to it?

How were you able to read a body code?

The top of the IP has to come off to get to the sensor. This requires removal of the cluster bezel, a-pillar moldings, RH HVAC outlets, IP end caps, and the grab bar. There are two Phillips screws on each end and one behind each RH vent removed. There are about four 7mm bolts on the RH side.

On the 98-99 OBS trucks you can pull the DRL fuse and if you don't have fog light everything will be fine.

I know this is a really old post but is putting in a blue LED the only way to bypass the auto light feature on 99 GMT800's? I would like to have it like a 2001 where you hit the dome override a couple times. And it sounds like a serious pain in the but to get to that sensor to change it too

i tried just reaching behind the radio, but 1: i have big hands, so they didn't fit all the way back. 2: the sensor housing was warped & catching on something so i couldn't turn it from the top either. my only choice was pulling the dash. that took a whole 20 minutes, not knowing what the world i was doing, 10 minutes the second time. just unplug the light sensor & put a 1.5kOhm, 1/2W resistor in the socket & tape it together real good. that will eliminate the auto-headlight system. the DRLs will run all the time (even with parking lights) until you turn on the headlights.
