    04 van "LQ4"versus truck "LQ4"???

Hi there i was wondering if anyone could help me and point out any if at all differences that might inhibit my swapping a LQ4 out of an 04 savanah van with its 4l80e and accessories into an 82 gm SBRC. Are these engines the same internals and just different mounts, or is it more than that? The salvage yard is showing it as not compatible with the trucks and i am wondering if that makes it not usable in my application I have a decent deal for a low milage 6.0 just curious if i should jump on this or take the truck version with much higher milage? Any and all info is greatly appreciated thanks.

P.S. not sure if this thread is in the right place on not. feel free to move it if need be.

i dunno bout anything else but i know if its like the van 5.3 it will have a different oil filter thread than the trucks....just FYI...learned that the hard way

i would buy it, we put a 5.3 out of a van in a truck, i dunno why a 6.0 outta a van wouldnt fit in a truck...

about the only thing interchangable is the connecting rod bearings, the rest has been redesigned. You will need to build or buy engine mount adapter plates, get a simplified wiring harness or rework the one that came with your engine to work with your truck, get the PCM programmed and have the VATS type security system turned off in it, build a new exhuast system to mate to your old setup, build a high pressure fueling supply to satisfy the needs of the GEN3 engine(58 psi and about 200lph flow mininum)...

Don't be afraid, this is all easily accomplished if you have a little mechanical abilities and have some spare money laying around to pay for the things you'll be needing to buy or have built.

might be a little confusion with my original question what are the differences between the van version of the LQ4 and the truck version? If any at all , the reason being is that the salvage yard is telling me that this van application is not showing compatibility with the 04 style trucks and im wondering if this is going to effect an attemt to install the van version into my 82. sorry for the confusing question, or maybe im just misunderstood the answer.

    Thanks for the replies

The van engine is pretty much the same as the other LQ4's.

The 6.0 has hardly anything in common with the '82.

Hope that clears up the replies.

Ok so the lq4/4l80e combo that im looking at is coming with all the accessories, harness, and pcm included from the van is there anything else i should be looking to get. Its a complete van that has been written off. I also have been talking with another fellow on another local site that has a lq4 with a built 4l60e and all the perriferals from a 98 camaro but has it installed in a mazda rx7 and slightly more expensive. It has less milage and some of the little things already done to make the swap complete. wondering what you guys think is a better way to go? Also wondering what it costs to freshen up the ls blocks and if i shold think about doing so on either of these the higher milage van motor has approximatly 35,000 m and the other is much less than that

    thanks

do the lq4/80e combo, much stronger setup. Get all you can from the donor vehicle that hooks to the engine from all the wiring, trans cooler hoses, radiator, hoses, belts, fan, air cleaner... everything you can get.
