The LS1 style 2-80 pin connector PCM can and does work in the 96-2000 Distributored Vortec trucks. The MOST popular PCM to use is the 12200411 service number PCM. There are 3 different wiring files depending on your year truck. 96,97,98-2000. You can also run CNP ignition on these older style SmallBlocks, using this PCM and a custom 24x reluctor wheel by EFIConnection.com. I also have the wiring files to convert the 96-2000 OBS SBC trucks to CNP. PM me your E-mail address and what year your truck is and I will send you the proper wiring file--If your interested.

It is true, there is a limit on the rev limiter for the obs trucks.
You mentioned you can tune for a higher rpm, but did you test it out on the road?
Without a doubt, I have run into this problem on several trucks and TunerCat and HPtuner has not fixed this yet, ON TRUCKS THAT EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM.
I'm not sure if the limiter is in the pcm or another module, but the rev limiter is limited, like the other guy said.

I'm not sure if every truck is doing this, but I've tuned many that will not go over 5800rpms.

I can look up the wiring differences. Can you?

I don't have a clue about the other stuff but putting in a topic started in 2005 and "ended" in 2006 is not the best way to get answers.
