Ske your brother is going to have a pretty mean truck when he gets done! If you don't want to spray but want to keep up, I would suggest a TT408 with around 18-20 psi. You'll spend a lot of money to get there but that may be the only way to beat him. Being in Cali, I don't know if that's an option, but by the sounds of it, he's prob going to be in the 10's. Or you could save $20k and right before you race him, let the air out of his tires!

Ok, now we are getting somewhere. A 6.0L and an 80e is a good start. But you still have a looooooong way to go to be able to either keep up or beat your brother...

I said the once before to a guy from Cali looking t mod his truck and complaining about the Cali smog rules...register it in Arizona. We don't have any of the smog rules that you do out there. All you have to do is once every 2 years come to AZ and get it emissions tested....it's an OBDII plug in and read...and then you have asuch free regin to do whatever you want with it.

well if you have the 6.0 drop a turbo kit or have someone build it for around $4.5k total, injectors maybe $300 good tune $300 fuel pump $100, you have that 4l80 it should last

so with $4700 to $5k you should beat your brother, and forgot a nice stall for around $800 so around $5800 total

I don't think he's going to be able to just buy a 6.0 and put 15+ psi of boost on it and call it a day. It can be done but not sure it would last. The turbo kit alone would be at least $4k, then he would need the supporting stuff (springs) and probably forged pistons/rods. The fuel system needed to handle that kind of power will be a lot more than $100. The A1000 is $350 alone. Injectors you could find some used 60's for around $350. Gauges are a must. Wideband, boost & FP. Tune may run a little bit more unless you do it yourself or have someone who can tune it for you. The 80e will probably hold or just install a shift kit for a little more.

I think what everyone is getting at is that this is just a slightly modified L. It's sounds pretty stout and will require more than just 8# of boost to get it done. If that's all he needed, the stock 6.0 and 80e with a slightly upgraded fuel pump would probably get it done. He may not need $14k in mods but it's not far from it.

Really and truely if you are not a horsepower addict don't do it. It is a total waste of money.
I do it cause I am addicted and it doesn't take a major stake of my income. I spend about what it takes a year to pay a 500 dollar truck payment every month.
99RCSB Broke because I wasted thousands and thousands of dollars on my truck.
