    Exhaust??????

    Aight this is what's up..
I'm planning on getting my exhaust done on my 5.3 chevy. I had true dual exhaust with flowmasters in mind but ive read somewhere that a 5.3 really doesn't need dual cuz it doesn't push that much.
So now I'm starting to think twice about dual!
Now I'm wanting to know more about this issue cuz if there no need to get dual exhaust I could use the extra money to buy some headers

With that said. I wanna know if pacesetter headers is the way to go?? If not what?

    I would appreciate the help
    Thanks!

yea your right, you don't really need dual exhasut at all for a 5.3, i have Pacesetter LT's, 2.5 in y-pipe, no cats, into a single 3" for my cammed 6.0. your 5.3 wouldn't need anymore than that.

+1. As far as the Pacesetters... there are better ones out for around the same price.
Someone chime in but isnt the company that does the stainless ones called LPP? If I could do it over again Id get them...

These guys speak the truth. I recently ran dual 2.5" pipes to a dual in/dual out magnaflow to replace my single in dual out flowmaster. Granted I used the bigger magnaflow but there was not a lot of improvement for the money I dished out. The truck does run better but not by a huge noticeable difference. The thing I like most is that the magnaflow is deeper and quieter and I no longer have to listen to the fart sound the flowmaster made at higher rpms.

Does anyone have any data on how well the factory cat back flows? I think when I do headers I am going to leave the factory cat back in place and put a cutout after the y pipe. Anyone out there go this route?

My 6.0 muffler is a dual inlet and i did pacesetters and dual cut outs right before the muffler. I gained .1 seconds and 1 mph in the 1/8th. Not a huge gain for as redneck loud as it gets.

Thanks! Does it at least sound good? What about adding a straight through bullet of some kind before the cutouts?

i had the true dual...didnt work out so well, i went to dynomax bullets in place of the cats in the stock y-pipe, and a magnaflow that dumps before the axle and i have to say it sounds really good imho, and i got all my low end torque back. untill i get the cash to drop on some long tubes and a cam this set up is awesome, no cackle or raspyness, just a nice mellow rummble at idle, and a smooth semi-loud magnaflow sound at wot

who sells lpp headers? i've never heard of them. and as far mufflers go, dynomax has a great sounding straight through muffler like a magnaflow but without the big price.
