If the throttle cable/pedal linkage stuff if fine, it's probably just carbon build-up in the throttle body causing the butterfly plate to stick when closed. 'Higher' mileage engines (I've seen this on motors as low as 60,000) tend to display this build-up. All you need to do is remove the throttle body and clean the carbon out of it. I use a diluted mix of a strong alkaline multi purpose cleaner called Eimann Fabrik Hi-Intensity Cleaner and a small brass bristled brush to get the carbon off. I'm sure other multi purpose cleaners will do the job too. Fantastik is another strong alkaline cleaner that is easy to find. Service/repair manuals discourage the use of carb cleaners - maybe they can ruin the TB sensors.

If you're careful, you won't need to replace the gasket behind the throttle body. Your biggest headache will probably be getting at the clamps on the coolant hoses on the bottom of the throttle body.
