Okay, so I'm gonna head over the river to Gateway this summer and do some 1/4 mile runs. My wife gave me her "approval" if I promise to wear a helmet.

I'll have my tranny and traction work done by then, and maybe will break the 18s if I'm lucky The plan is to warm up with a couple of "Street Tire Tuesday" nights, and then hit some "Wednesday Slick" nights with a set of Mickey Thompsons on the rear. The main objective is to have some fun and be safe.

Well, I'm seriously in need of some advice on how you guys stage, launch, make the run and any other tips you can pass on. Bring it on....

[Note from the mods below I'm running strictly NA and an automatic tranny here.]
    Base: 2004 Victory Red Silverado 1500 2WD RCLB, LR4, 4L60E, 3.73, HD Suspension, P245/75R16 Tires
Mechanical/Performance: Nelson 93 Octane Tune (See Slamma's CarDomain.Com Page for more details)

whatever you do, remember to put on your seatbelt and roll up your windows. it seems to irritate the hell outa the guys at the staging lanes when they have to remind you.

drive around the water box, i spun about 1/8th of the track last time i was out because i drove through it. driva around the box, then back up into it. it was helpfull for me to meet someone there that knew what they were doing cuz i sure as hell didnt.

oh yeah, give it the gas when the light turns green

Leave on the last yellow, or you'll have shitty r/t's use tow/haul mode and hold your foot on the floor. See isn't that easy? Good luck have fun, be safe.

If they use the pro tree your first reaction times are going to be really slow. My local track plays games with the racers. Sometimes they'll throw a pro tree startup and I just about shat my pants trying to drive the gas pedal throw the floor board.
