    Header Wrap

Hey guys my Pacesetters should be here tomorrow. I was wondering how much header wrap I need to buy. If anyone has done this before fill me in.

don't wrap them unless your turbo. Even then its a pain in the butt. And I used almost two to three roles of 50ft. 1inch thick wrap. Its expeensive

I just figured the black would wear off and rust eventually so why not. I would assume the wrap would look better then rust.

Wrapping them up can make them rot faster, holds the condensation.

see i always hear this but never first hand ever encounterd this. now cheap headers will always rust inside out. So is this really a urban legend?

It's just what I've heard too, I've never wrapped headers. But what causes the headers to rot out is the rapid change in temperature because of the thin material this causes the condensation, in theory wrapping them should stop this. I have no first hand experience with wrapping them or not. I had a set of Summit's 90$ pieces on a Dodge I drove before, didn't make it through the winter.

Wrapping is cheaper than coating. I don't buy the "makes them rust faster" either. We're wrapping some Kook's C6 LT's right now...

The only thing I can think of that would make wrapped headers rot out faster is that it doesn't allow the metal to breathe, everything just festers underneath. If that makes sense I'm kinda reaching now.
