    Welcome to the forum.

A good first few questions are:: How much do you have/want to spend, what is "fast" to you (what's your goal), and how much can you invest in the long run.

If you start modding one thing, it leads to the need to replace a weaker part, then that leads to the same thing...kind of a snowball effect.

You say how much ya got and we'll spend it for you.

Tune will be a good start as well as a better intake and exhaust. A cam and stall will net you a good bit of HP as well. When you really get ready for some HP then some N2O or turbo will get you down the track in record time! The equation is Speed=Money x Time.

    He drives a Ford!! What!

Naw joking. But seriously. It isnt a Lightning right?

Do you want to go F/I or N2O or do you want all Motor. These are all things that we are going to need to know before we really start advising. The only thing that you cant go wrong with from the 1st is a good tune.

If you think a turbo would be in your future you wont need to get long tube headers since the stock manifolds are better... Also your cam would need to be different from a N/A cam....
A superchargers cam is different from a N/A cam... And longtube headers are a good thing....
Then also keep in mind its hard to tell you what gear we think is good cause if you run boost most people want a gear around 3.42/ 3.73.... Then at the same time if want to run N/A or n2o most seem to lean toward 4.10s....

    So many factors.....
I personally started modding before I knew what I REALLY wanted out of my truck. Now I find myself having to buy parts again to replace the stuff I didnt really need.

Well funny you said that, he does drive an SVT Lightning, that's what got me interested so that I can of course beat him. lol

He says a turbo would be good so I think I'm gonna start with that.

I've got a few thousand to spend but also have to buy him a new motor in the near future so he can compete. I want speed and a lot of it. That's basically what I want. I still need to use it as a daily driver and to tow with but I also want to race on weekends.

welcome we could use another turbo build i would sugest a trick performance front mount turbo and if u can a ls6 cam (thay are usualy really cheap) and the suporting mods you will need. No need for a rebuild im about to put 22-25 psi on a 4.8 that has close to 80k miles. Just start of with 8 psi and then every time ur man beats you just turn the boost up a little more and beat him

He wouldnt happen to be a member on Talon? Did you make the lightning/chevy shoot out at Ennis a few weeks ago?
I hope he doesnt have the attitude that his svt will outrun any chevy....
If he does you are going to really hurt his feelings.... Men dont like losing.... especially to the girl they are dating. haha. You may haft to sandbag when you race him to help his ego

Y'all are crazy!!! Yes he is a member on Talon and yes we were out at Ennis. Honestly I won't race him because I know how men get when racing women, especially their own girlfriends.

And no he doesn't have that attitude (yet). He does blame the nights performances on the weather that night and claims thats why the Ford's didn't run well... I didn't have the heart to tell him that if the Ford's were running slow then the Chevy's would be too... gotta let a man think what he wants, for a bit.
