See the 2 holes bottom right... those have to seal up with block, depending on the year.

Oil filter is in the pan. So oil pressure goues from the pump on the front of the motor through the block then through one of those little holes in the gasket into the side of the pan. There it either goes through the filter or through a bypass then back up through the other little hole. If that part of the gasket is missing oil will just escape through there back into the pan.

Engine builder to use in SE Texas is USA Race Engines near Hobby Airport in Houston.
    aka The Wop Shop.

They are NOT cheap. But your engine WILL be done right.
They even have in house engine dyno.

Built my 351W for my stang for me. Threw it on the engine dyno
broke it in and knew it was making exactly 476hp.
    2002 Tahoe 4.8 - soon to be turbo'd - SOLD
    1989 Mustang - LX Vert - 351W-TT - 2inches of dust covering it
    2012 Raptor - 497rwhp at 10psi
If you aint breaking - you aint going fast enough

The seals that seal the main gallery to and from the oil filter are missing from the gasket.

The confusing part is the picture has the gaskets upside down. Hold your computers up to a mirror.

I wasn't aware of that little tidbit. Thanks for the explanation.
