you can reuse your factory a/c with the 6L if you buy the correct mounting brackets. I am using a street and performance high right a/c mount along with a sanden compressor. I wish I would have had the option of the factory compressor when I did mine. search here on the site and you'll find the links to companies that make the brackets to reuse the factory a/c.

    Smile A/C...Old Body Style...

On my '96, I also did what Red did. As he said, I also wished they offered more A/C compressor options back when...but they did'nt. Many more options now. I like the look of the Kwik-Kits brand they have now(I think thats the name). Its all been hashed over & over, here & on LS1Tech, but if you have any questions...fire away.

As far as I know, the S & P bracket is designed to only use the Sandon 508 compressor. Did they come out with something new?

I think im gonna use the Kwik kit because of price and i like how it angles the compressor off to the side so I can use the 3 piece 6.0 covers still

I think you will like the kwik brackets.
They have been pretty successful to this point.
I wish theirs would have been out a few weeks earlier.
I made my own setup with an old style compressor, but would have rather used the new compressor.
