best answer!!! quik !! its all in how the parts are chosen!!! question is has the 5.3 broken the 400 rwhp ? N/A ? what is the most anyone has proven to gain from a NA 5.3?

Simple: 408 on steroids!
single digits coming soon!
theres some guy on here claims, 460 rwhp but i think its BS since i cant find any info about the build, would be nice to know about it!!

you have to keep the same style engines in comparison...almost like comparing a s10 towing capacity vrs a fleet truck.
well if you can get a 6.0 for close to the same price as a 5.3 why would you choose the 5.3?...
im with dbrods theres no substitute for Cubic Inches
The 427s are catching up. Now we have 454 and 500" options, too. There are less people that own the large cubic inch engines, so there are less people doing R&D to build to big power.
See my truck data in the "My Garage" section here... http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/my-ga...tml#post191709
And me...
If you take a 5.3 and give it full bolt ons, and tune it to its max potential, then take the same parts off that 5.3 and put them on a 6.0 tuned to its max, you will see far greater results.
a 4.8 can put out 600whp... but if you take your setup and put it on a 6.0 of equal compression and flow.. you can make that power with less boost. Not to mention the butt load of extra torque you'll have on tap.
everything destroys the 454 BB... but technology is not the only reason for the power difference, because we all know the BB can lay some power down that LS cant touch. But thats a separate issue.
yay theres 3 of us that agree on the same thing....its a miracle
heres where your comparison is wrong will show its same results. you take a 325 and run with this cam and those heads. you put the exact cam and heads on a 364. the cam and heads will now be tame on the 364 and probably wont if any gain HP over the 325 since the cam and heads were specially setup for the smaller motor. a larger motor like the 364 would much more benefit from a better choice of parts
as for my 4.8 vs larger motor. take a look at parish's 408 at the same psi level as my 4.8. same cam, same turbo, stock intakes, same exhaust... almost identical HP at the same psi level. the difference was TQ...cubes will never short you on TQ.... that is your real world comparision....
as for everything destorys the BB454 again your wrong. take an older 454 it doesnt compare one bit to the modern day 454. have to be little more clearified on that statement.
also granted ppl dont beleive in dyno numbers and etc. but go look at hte dynolist on tech. youll see 346s making more power then 408s with the same parts. perfect example. L92s on a 408 make no kind of power take a 377 with exact same heads and cam and it makes power.. a local 383 with a synergy cam and stock l92s made more power then a 408 with same cam and heads. both had same headers, both had same trannys both had same exhaust. both tuned by same guy both in camaros....the 383 car was much faster and stronger
