just looked a pic of what the housing should look like, didn't realize how far off mine was. il definitely get a new one. i mean if it was ground down just a little i would run it but i probably lost an 1/8"...

on a side note, the truck ran surprisingly cool for having absolutely no coolant flow, i mean i made a few 5ish mile trips to the parts store without exceeding 230*. and somehow it didn't even make any noise, that absolutely amazes me. the thing is pretty messed up i would expect some nasty grinding noises.
