Gators 4l60e Tranny & Servo Issue

Well i bought a used tranny out of a 07 wrecked truck with 20k miles on it for $650...i've got it install and everything is hooked up...Tomorrow i will top of the fluids and take it for a test ride...(got my fingers crossed)..I sold the cut outs last yr so i will have to do some exhaust work b4 its completly finised...As far as the original tranny issue take a look at the pic of what broke ...I have no idea what could have caused the servo to put so much pressure that it actualy cracked the casting....Well take a look at the pic and tell me what you think...BTW i put atleast 20k miles on the tranny with the servo mod and im sure there was nothing out of the ordinary done to the tune..

the damage is caused by not getting the servo snap ring installed properly.

I know what you mean greg but theres is no way that my snap ring wasn't 100% in the grove....I have been around too long to make that mistake..plus if it wasn't in the grove completely it wouldn't have cracked the casting...

Even the most experienced people make mistakes from time to time. Its not a character flaw, it's just reinforcing the fact that we're human.

BTW you can see half of the snap ring hanging out in the pic.

LOL. i didn't take it that way... in my opinion the reason half the ring is sticking out is because half of the casting gave away..... I just want to figure out all possibilities to prevent this from happing to anyone else...but again that snap ring was verified.....Now keep in ming that this tranny would kind of slip into second...i even posted comments about that b4...maybe i got something wrong on the enternal assembly of the servo....who knows though???...but i do know that im afraid to try the servo mod again...lol

Edit: I went out and looked at the tranny again and i think gregs right....theres is no way the right side of the snap ring could have came out unless it wasn't seated all the way....wierd i know i checked it and rechecked it when i pulled the tranny for the yank install....oh well

Well the the junk yard tranny worked fine, shifts normal but a little early.... with some tuning it will be fine...BTW with open headers the truck felt very weak on the low end.

    Flt Ftw

Well the 20k mile Texmex tranny didn't hold up. Only got maybe 7500 miles out of it. Looks like the front seal went out possible because of a bad bearing not for sure though...I contacted FLT and they built me a level 4. Got it installed over the weekend, added fulid to it last night and took it for a quick test drive...From the lil i drove it i could tell a difference... Just wanted to say thanks to FLT for the great transaction and fast turn around.. Andy was very easy to talk with and down to earth... First i took the truck to milstead automotive in conroe they quoted me $2500 for a built tranny but couldn't tell me off the top off their heads what it included...
