I go thru State Farm. I've had 2 claims, neither of them my fault. My rates did not increase. I've got my Z28 and my truck insured with them, and a classic policy on the Z28. For both vehicles, I'm paying $95 per month, full coverage with $100 deductibles on collision, $250 deductibles on comp.

We've had a few claims, they have always been very helpfull and more than fair. They will do pretty much whatever I ask them to on a claim.

Every insurance company you guys have mentioned will *screw you* if you total your truck, because your truck will go onto their towhook and all the mods you've spent money on will be lost and the insurance company will not pay you for them at all. Case in point, good friend of mine here in Plano has his Silverado SS stolen in February, he was covered by State Farm - when he took out the policy he specifically asked the agent, would his mods be covered as well including nitrous, stereo, roll pan, exhaust, rims, speedster cover, etc and the agent said yes they would pay above the market value of the truck... when he made the claim long story short they told him they would give $1500 for $10K+ in mods (he had receipts) and take it or leave it.

The reason I say AANPAC is because if you keep your truck nice and have a second vehicle for daily driver then you can put your truck on a specialty policy and they will appraise your truck (have receipts) and in the case of a total you will be paid the agreed value of the truck. Saying it this way, I have been modding my truck over 5 years now and if my truck is stolen they will cut me a check for $45K; and the cost of the policy is only $15 more per month than when I had my truck and daily driver covered by Allstate's crappy coverage.

    Mr. P.

Texas does NOT have an "agreed" value in the insurance policy contract. The ONLY policy you can get on your vehicle like this in Texas is a "stated" amount policy. I know this for a FACT. So if your insurance company told you they would "write you" a check for $45K if your vehicle totaled, they lied. The policy states they will pay you "up to" the stated value you have listed, which in your case is "$45K". Items such as nitrous are not covered under most policies in Texas because they are illegal, that is why State Farm Insurance will not pay for it. Any time you make modifications to your truck you should notify or make your Agent aware of these changes so that they are covered. We personally have 4 "stated" value policies and 2 daily drivers. That friend of yours in Plano that was offered $1500 for his truck with $10,000 in mods did not know who to talk to about his truck. Like everything in life, there is good and bad, he obviously had an unknowledgeable Agent or your friend is not giving you the full story. State Farm has people who specialize in custom vehicles and help those people settle their claims when their vehicles get in a wreck. Ask DBRODS and DBTBSS about their experience with State Farm. I happen to be that person at State Farm that handles the specialty vehicles, including custom trucks and I make sure that people with custom trucks and cars are taken care of fairly.

Hi thank you for the knowledgeable reply, please PM me your contact info I would be very interested in discussing this further out of band, I am about to put another huge chunk of $$$ in the truck this month and need to re-evaluate my coverage.
