Wow, I hope it works out for ya.

BTW, nice dime setup you have. But I am really digging the '71.

My buddy is going to bring home some left hand drill bits for me today. I picked up some new small drill bits and some easy out's. I plan on drilling a small pilot hole, then using the left hand bits to see if it will spin out. If not, maybe try a easy out. All else fails, keep drilling bigger and bigger.

Kind of a fun learning lesson for everyone except me I bought a harmonic balancer installer today on lunch, I knew about the pullers but was unaware they had installer kits. Learn something new every day.

Thanks man, I love both of the trucks. The 71 was given to me by my father 3 years ago. I put some of my touches on it - new engine, trans, all new chrome, interior, rims, tires, oak bed, bed cover, suspension, steering column, etc. It still needs paint but other than that, its pretty much done until I can afford to do a nice LQ4 build.

Much nicer than mine! Those wheels look sharp!

I am working on the LQ4 setup now in mine.

I got the snapped crank bolt out

I'm about to try this again. Just realized the harmonic balancer install tool won't work. I am going to try another technique

i would say for a oil presure gauge. ive had a few old timers tell me to do that before since they dont expand like a nylon line.

Yeah the nylon has a habit of blowing off too. Copper cracks with vibration. Glad the bolt came out.

I was able to get the snapped bolt out last night with minimal damage I was really worried about getting the center punch right in the middle. I took a 12mm deep well socket - 3/8" drive and slid it into the crankshaft. I then took my center punch and hammered it about 10 times to make a nice divot into the snapped off bolt. The 12mm socket fit perfectly in the crank shaft. I picked up some left hand drill bits and a new tap/die set with the 16mm x 2.0 pitch dies. I ended up drilling the small pilot hole, gradually getting bigger bits and testing the Easy Outs which didn't work and were too short due to the 3-3.5" of recess. I think I ended with a 1/2" drill bit and then the threads from the snapped bolt came right out. I rethreaded the crank shaft threads and now the new bolt goes in perfect. Torqued it to 37 ft lbs and 140 degrees.

Correct, oil pressure gauge. As soon as I get the S10 done, I'm going to go through the 71 and clean up a few things. I still need to replace the rear sliding window, I have a new one in the garage that's been waiting to go in for over a year now.
