Transfer case in 06 2500hd

i just had the same grinding noise with mine last fall. mine was coming from a clip coming off inside and allowing the chain to rub against the case. they did fix the problem with the replacement ones. if you catch it in time before you rub completely through and loosing all of your fluid you could probably rebuild it. i just opted for a new one instead. what does your fluid look like? mine had ALOT of silver in it from the case.

yeah the fluid is filthy and also i can take the spline going into the transfer case and push up and down on the shaft and it moves alot inside the t-case... that really sucks i was about to do some longtubes and a..cam here goes my money... im guessing it needs to be rebuilt i got a estimate of about 800 bucks

that sucks!! but at least its only half of a new one. hopefully everything turns out well.
