you want a 427 do it the good way. 4.125 bore of a X block with a 4" crank. which you can find pistons OTS
I probably will stick to a 408, but what type of power are we talking N/A, with some p/p'd 243's, decently aggressive cam and an ls2 intake?

408s are like any motor. heads, intake and cam make the difference. ive seen 408s barely crack 400, i seen 408s make close to 600. the money you spend in the right department is what determines your power. with a budget 408 using 243s LS2 intake and a cam, id say 450-460rwhp. toss on AFRs or trickflows with a fast 90 and see low 500s. toss on a set of Tony Mamo ported AFRs or trickflows with a Tony ported fast 90 with a spec'd cam and see mid to high 5s. this is with big boy headers of 1 7/8 or 1 7/8 stepped to 2" primarys with true duals, SD tune, UDP and EWP

look this way...spend big money on good parts get great results. spend budget money and get budget results. its all in what your wallet can handle

LS7 stock only puts out about 430rwhp, 8.1 isnt worth anything and is to much of a pain to install.
