I've done the pump both ways and lifting the bed is the easiest. The transgo kit was pretty easy, just take your time and follow all the instructions. Don't be afraid or embarrassed to ask questions when in doubt. Open the kit and go over the install a few times in your head before doing it on the truck. Buy the kit with the install video.
