BorgWarner all the way. If its good for FLT its good for you.![]()
See my truck data in the "My Garage" section here... http://www.ls1truck.com/forums/my-ga...tml#post191709
I was also wondring what I should "beef up" while im rebuildng? What are the common weak links of the 60e?
3-4 clutches, input housing, pump, reverse input drum, direct clutches, forward sprag, sunshell, output shaft.
There are two planets but they usually don't break (but quik broke at least one)....even the 4 planet 60's gear sets are not that failure prone compared to the stuff listed above. In fact, the only planet I've replaced was a 5-gear set.
Only use GM 5 pinion planets if you are going to upgrade them. The after market ones are total junk. If you are 4wd a good billet output shaft is always a good idea. Not sure if you plan on building this yourself but buying a built unit from a well know company might be cheaper in the long run. As mentioned above those are the parts that should be addressed if you are building one. Also you should upgrade your plastic accumulator pistons and a new separator plate is always a good idea.
