Don't do it. It's an attempt to get an A-load more labor out of you since the heads have to come off to change lifters on the LS engines.

the guy doesnt work on LS motors. i wouldnt allow him to do the cam install. ppl that are used to SBC usually always replace lifters since they are in the valley. If he isnt aware of LS lifters i wouldnt have him do the cam swap

he told me I will mess them up because of the double springs that I bought.. he told me he has to take the engine out to change the cam.. that's not what I've heard from you guys.. he also told me I NEED to buy some ARP head bolts.. and the heads gaskets.. how much do the P&P work run usually for you guys?

mine just got P&Pd, dont know any numbers yet, arp's are recommended usually for spray or boost, no the motor does not neet to come out and you need hardened push rods, if i was you id get as far away from that guy as possible.

you can use new stock TTY bolts. if you never plan to work on motor again this works out well. stock head bolts will hold some good pressure.

MLS gaskets are what are preferred. if he thinks motor has to come out ditch this man fast

hes the saying with the stock lifters pre-05 motors. its like russian roulette with stock lifters. theres a chance you might be the sorry indiviual that has the colasped lifter apond new cam, or you might not have to worry about it. cheap insurance is if your removing your heads for 120 bucks install the new LS7 lifters. these are standard on 06+ motors

when i did my first cam in my 6 litre i was one of the collasped lifter guys. so i drove it like that for 500 miles then did more mods and used the new Ls7 back then. a local buddy tossed in a 224 in his 4.8 and have a collasped lifter. like i said its russian roulette on older motors

Are the LS7 lifters any better than the Cadillac lightweight racing lifters? They're supposed to be even better than the LS7 lifters if I remember correctly.
