    Just some FYI the 799 heads are the same as the 243 heads...Just a different casting number. I think the 243s were made up north and the 799s were cast in Mexico....So they are Mexicans

    799s were the prototypes for the 243s. The casting is a slight bit more rough from the factory (backing up your thought that they were made in Mexico ) than the 243s. The 799s actually work better for truck applications cause they provide better lower rpm torque than the 243s.

    Sorry tyler, they are the same with the exception of the casting #. There are tons of posts on the vette forums about people having a 243 on one side and a 799 on the other. They actually got through to GM employee X and verified they are indeed the same...ha

    They are the same--I never said they were different... Go compare some flow charts for them....HA.
