I have heard some horror stories about 4L60's...I know the stock ones wont hold up that much but I was wondering if anyone had something like a STREET FIGHTER....or a JET 4L60.....and how is it holding up? I was wondering how it would hold up to a mild cam in a 5.3 with headers/CAI/3.73's....somewhere around 260-290 hp at the wheels if I can get some head work and pass visual and the sniffer here in california.....anyone with this kind of set-up with a tranny that has lasted them a while?

I would be surprised if it did kill a JET trans. Don't they warrantee the trans? As for any performance transmission, be sure you add an external trans fluid cooler to help bring the temps down. Add the cooler to the fluid return side from the radiator. Let the water bring the temps down to 180 or so and then air chill it further. You sure wouldn't want to cool it by air to 140 and then heat it back up to 180 in the radiator before returning it to the transmission.
