    Just Wondering No Volts

I am due to replace my original 6 1/2 years GM battery. Cranks slow when the battery is cold.

Question is what does the PCM lose and have to relearn when the battery is disconnected? I have a tune and is running good. Is it worth the bother to keep current flow via a jumper battery when switching out batteries?

I know I could fry things if not careful.

On a second note, looking at getting a "Optima battery "--cost little more ----weighs more at 38.8 lbs----but would be nice to remote install in the back. Any body using one???

Thank you for your time and consideration.

You won't lose anything. Just swap them out.

You will lose what the PCM learned beyone the base tune. I've seen guy use a device you plug into the cigarette lighter to keep the memory active. A small 9v battery plugged into it will hold the memory for 15 minutes or so. You could use a spare 12v battery to provide voltage while you're swapping batteries.

ST and LT as well as average injector PWM, etc. will go but the tune won't.
