More problems

Well the last time you heard from me my power steering pulley had shattered at the track, I have fixed all that but now my first gear seems like it wants to shift way to late. Even at normal driving it will not shift into second until 25-30 mph which is like 3k or more rpm.(not normal). But when i step on it , it grabs and goes fine. I had tried changing the shift point on the HP tuners but to no avail. Is this the beginning of the end of my tranny? Or my verter about to puke??

The trans is stock with about 40k miles, I havnt dropped the pan yet and the fluid is new and filled. I have a Boss Hog 3k, Not the greatest but im kinda hoping thats the problem.

check for broken wires on the throttle body, MAF and engine coolant temp sensor.

Id start looking for a 80E if i were you. with your power, that 60E is gonna go eventually. your on its limits

Im gonna start lookn around for one, thanks for the info. Turns out it is the converter that puked. Gonna order a Yank or a Circle D this week I think for the time being

honestly if it was me, id throw a stock one in there for now and just save the money for an 80E converter and tranny. no sense spending $600 on something that ur gonna take out soon and loose half its value anyway... id throw the stock on in there to just get around and be able to drive it then save the money for where it counts!

Will I need to do anything special to the 80 or will it bolt right up to my LS1?? I think Im just to impatient because I wanna make this event in Feb so bad.

umm im not too certain. ask Redheartbeat. he seems the be the go to guy for OBS trucks. I kno that if you get one from a yard, there is a bellhousing type spacer and something with the crank... Just tell them you want everything. and i think you will have to drill new holes for your crossmember

It will bolt right to the engine if you get a 2002 or newer 80e. Older units will be missing one bolt hole location, not a problem though. I was told that if the converter has 3 lugs to hold it on its a late model LS1 style and will bolt right to the converter. If it has 6 lugs, or is older than 2002, you'll have to get a crankshaft extension spacer and flat flywheel. Go for the 2002+ unit. You should be able to reuse the crossmember. I didn't reuse mine, I had to build a custom unit because of the longtube headers and 3" exhaust system running through that area. You will also need a wiring adapter for the 80e transmission, available from NelsonPerformance for the best price I've seen. You'll also have to get the tune overlayed with an 80e shift parameter table and program. If you have a NP tune he can handle that. Finally, you'll need a th400/80e driveshaft yoke and possibly a conversion u-joint to go from a 1310 or 1330 (depending which your's has) to 1350 joint.

Some guys are going to a TH400 transmission instead, doesn't require the tune issues.
