    Well, to a point. The patterns are similar but one bolt hole doesn't line up from the Gen1 to Gen3/4 conversions but it won't kill anything on a Chevy/GMC engine. Buick, Olds, Pontiac has a different pattern and so do true diesel engines excluding the Olds diesels.
