i finally got the tranny in and took her out. i have no reverse right now but that should be fixed soon. bu the darn thing will not quit overheating. i have tried burping it several times with no avail. even tested and replaced the thermostat. even went as far as to replace the water pump. i flushed the system with a tee in the heater hose and left it running over an hour. didnt overheat then but it had cool water going in. i got to drive it for 10 minutes today and she did it again. i just cant seem to put m finger on it. i do not have the rear 02's hooked up and it is open cats that are on there right now. i cant get it to run long enought to get me to the exhaust shop. any ideas will help out .

Hrm... did you confirm you're actually overheating here? or going by the dash gauge?

Perhaps the sending unit is bad.

On my truck, I don't have the hose that goes to the radiator from the driver's side head and I have a hard ass time trying to get my thermostat to open as well. I literally have to fill the engine up thru that little ass hole, I just haven't had time to take my radiator in to get a fitting welded on.
Is your stat stuck? Is it even opening? Is the bottom radiator hose getting hot up by the thermostat, check that and if it's not, your stat isn't opening?

    talk to you soon,

If it is indeed overheating... maybe it's b/c the truck sat for a while and the rad has corrosion internally? I bet you could have it steamed or recored perhaps.

    Throwin' out ideas here!

Stupid ?, but are your fans turning on while its overheating, I mean do you her them and can you visually verify ??? Also have the radiator cap pressure tested or buy a new cap. You have the DCC controler right ??? Is it turning the fans on at 100% or do they stay at low speed ??? Sorry I can't help more...Zed

You could loosen the bolt for the water/steam bleeds on the corners of the heads to verify all the air is out of the top end. Definitely make sure the return line is not blocked from the heads. I tapped the water pump and returned the water from the heads to the return line right before the radiator hose.

Sounds like the rad's stopped up.Take the thermostat out and the rad cap off and see if it's flowing.Should be hauling ass with a new pump.
