    shifter knob removal!

    i have a 2001 gmc sierra and its has the 4.3 v6 with the standard trans and i cant get the shifter knob off is there and tricks or anything to getting it off

    is there a slotted pin?

    im not sure i looked under the shifter and it looks like it should just screw off but ive tried with a pipe wrench and it still wont come off i dont want to put alot of pressure on it because i dont want to break something

    There is a similar topic somewhere.....the knob is part of the lever. Either replace both or hack the knob off and get creative on the installation of the replacement.

    If its like the OBS 5 speeds you have do go below the boot and loosen a lock nut to unscrew the shifter. It would be pretty easy to get someone to make you a custom shifter shaft to screw onto it if its like the older 5 speeds.

    I got an SLP shifter handle and a hurst knob off there website for less than 30 bucks, looks like a classic Hurst without the lettering. The stock knob is glued on
