    4L80e rebuild

I am rebuilding my 80e currently and thought I'd see if anyone posted a build topic. Here is a really good one I found building back for performance, Transgo level 3 manual shift kit and using a vacuum shift pressure modulator... 4l80E Rebuild Thread - PerformanceTrucks.net Forums

FYI... my fresh rebuilt 80e goes back in the truck tomorrow. Should take about 3 hours to bolt in with any luck doing it by myself as usual. Wish me luck.

nothing is bulletproof when running 300 HP shots of nitrous + 500 HP of motor in a 5000 lb vehicle with 3.42 gears in the rear. It busted the low roller sprag assembly and a couple little parts associated with it. Too much torque for the weak cage they put around their rollers. If I break that piece again I'm going to do some fab work to improve their design. Meanwhile I'm on the hunt for an improved design low roller sprag.

As for doing it before, yeah. I had a 97 model 80e that I wore the clutches out in. I replaced the complete transmission with a 2002 model that got some time on it before it was destroyed. The 2002 transmission got a 9.5" PI Vigilante 3500 rpm nitrous stall, Transgo level 2 shift kit and vacuum shift pressure modulater installed in it, the 97 was bone stock.

well, its in and all is well. Drove about 20 miles and no issues. Took about 3.5 hours with some of the time devoted to repairing my grease gun.

One rebuilt, two more to go.
