Well it appears that everything is fine. Took me a few hours to get it all back together with the turbo/exhaust and all, but got it together, added 11.5 (!) quarts of fluid and drove about 3 miles. No drips or leaks, and shifts good.

A HUGE thanks again to Greg, Nathan, and Virgil. I love you guys, man.

So it was pretty much empty then. Good call on the TC drain.....you need to thank Casey too.

Love to hear it works OK but I really had no doubts as Greg is a great by the book guy. I think we teamed up pretty well.

I had fun and learned some stuff....had fun teaching class too...

Too bad the best student (Moze) was gone with V getting a FREE "never breaks" part from someone open on Saturday while most of the guts were reinstalled.

    LOL

Moze, did you take the opportunity to make pics of Virgil "resting" on Greg's driveway as threatened?

    Hahahaha

V does require lots of thanks as he muscled some bolts, helped a lot with the in and out, and provided transportation of said broken 65 to Greg's, and many other things I'm sure I don't know about.

Greg deserves a lot of credit too....not just for opening his garage but for making the trek to return the missing spring (which happened after I left LOL J/K). What we learn from in person meetings about others here is worth...something. Thanks Greg.

I'm not S'ing anyone....I had fun....even though many times I wish I had a cushy job NOT involved with stuff like this.

Post a video or something so I know it works...

    Just an update...

This morning I started the truck and immediately had a P0740 code.

Started it up at lunch time and immediately had a P1860 code.

The battery was unhooked during the removal and install, so not sure if the PCM is maybe still learning or what. Or maybe it's tune-related? I dunno...

On the way home the converter unlocked a couple of times when it shouldn't have. Just cruising and all of the sudden it would unlock and the RPM's would jump up to 2200 or so.

Here's my concern: It was doing the same thing prior to the rebuild. Then it crapped out. So I'm a little worried about whatever is causing those codes and if it's going to cause more damage.

I don't have the funds to throw random cash at this and hope it's the TCC solenoid, or the converter.

At this point I'm ready to give someone a really good deal on a truck. Not sure I have the funds to stay in the game if this stuff is going to keep happening.

That would have been good to know when we were rebuilding it. Maybe we should have replaced the harness and TCC solenoid while we had it apart. Its easy enough to do in the truck, though.

4L60E Performance Transmissions from PATC search for 10XXX. Can get it other places, thats the easiest to get it from though, maybe a little more expensive but thats a great price IMO. I have two good force motors for the valve body too if you want to replace it.

Don't give up man it will come together and be reliable. Mine has not crapped out on me yet and My truck is really close to yours except its 4wd and a bit heavier.

I posted up somewhere about the codes prior to the build. That's why I asked you when you were putting the valve body back together which was the TCC solenoid.

It could be the harness and/or solenoid, but wouldn't it be more likely it's the converter?

OR...when Louis was tuning it, maybe the clutch packs were already suffering and the tune that's in it now is "off" or not where it should be for a properly functioning transmission?
