There are other factors that come into play.

As far as the 80 - I don't have the money to upgrade and the time to do everything involved with the conversion.

I don't have the billet shafts, but that doesn't affect the clutch packs.

A while back while some other work was being done I also had them put the original small aftermarket trans cooler in. When the guy did it he bypassed the trans cooler in the radiator. I ran it like that for quite a while because he said it was fine that way. Greg said that likely killed the clutch packs due to the heat it would have created.

What tells me he is likely right, other than that he is always right, is when I ran at the track, Virgil checked my trans temp and it was at like 270 degrees. So I'm not blaming FLT here.

The plan is to yank it out (hopefully some night this week), order the parts, take it to Greg's on Saturday, and hopefully be driving it at this time next week. It's killing me because it's my daily driver.

Go here 700R4, 700 Raptor Transmission from PATC, 700R4 4L60E 48RE 4L80E and buy the #14XXE blue plate special 3-4 clutch pack, call them to place the order and tell them you need new steels to go with them, get the carbon fiber band and a new drum #11A

    and order these...
Oregon Performance Transmission, Inc. PTM-P5100LLS++ full master rebuild kit, PTM-P5100L-9 clutch steels,

This will provide a complete rebuild minus bushings and will replace the stock 3-4 pack with the blue plates. If money is tight we can build it without the BPs and I'll still do the mod to the drum to prevent the centrifugal apply we talked about. The drum is something that has to be checked at disassembly to see if the band is bad or the drum is warped. We can probably get away with not buying any of the parts in the first list, I just like the stronger plates. The BorgWarner plates in the OPT kit are what FLT uses in their builds so I would feel okay putting them back in with the drum modification.

The turbo is much easier on a trans than a nitrous engine on equal power levels. I think it could be rebuilt to hold the power. There are a lot of fbody guys running over 1000 hp on a 60/65e.

Thanks for the info Greg. I'll order everything first thing tomorrow.

Nathan said he has some stuff we may need? Maybe you guys can communicate since I'm not sure what I do and don't need of what he has...

Just edit your post and tell me exactly what you think I should get to hopefully prevent this from happening again. I don't have the time to screw it up and order the wrong thing.
