I was planning on putting a TR 220 cam with 114 LSA in but I'm not sure if I want to put on the supporting mods, such as long tube headers and torque converter.. The reason being is I don't want to deal with leaking headers and I also don't wasn to go to the trouble of dropping out my transmission. I've also thought about the fact that if I'm going to all the trouble of putting a cam in/dopping the transmission why not just swap in a 6.0. I've looked around and found that I could probably buy a LQ4 for about the price I could sell my 5.3. I want to run my stock exhaust manifolds, but I don't know what cams I can run in either motor with them. Depending on which motor I went with, what cam/cams would be a good choice for my daily driver? Thanks
Do an LS6 cam and it will work decent with your manifolds and your stock converter will agree with it pretty well. You got to take things apart and spend money to make HP......and take more apart and spend more money to make "serious" HP. Do that LS6 cam, Underdrive pulley, and some electric fans and you might be happy for a while! I am installing an LS6 in a boys 4.8 right now so his dad dont know about it! lol He is also in the same boat as you!
