Funny how close I am by freeway time to RedHeartBeat yet anything goes here. Too bad they make you show address of insurance when you get tags...and the address on the tags is the county and the rules you get tested by....
Eventhough I don't have to have the sniffer, I want cats because I don't like the smell on my daily driver!
Eh, the smell isn't that bad. My friends joke with me and ask if I drive a boat...cause my exhuast smells a little gassy at idle--but then again, it is because of the cam...

Im assuming even though I have the newer engine in my OBS truck that it still goes by the yr of trk?
If thats the cause I live in an emissions county and it has to go on the rollers for the two speed test.
I guess I have to look into cats.
So do ya'll guys think a stock LQ4 with a tune with pass the sniffer with no cats?
89' GMC RCSB 6.0L LQ4, T56, 4.56 Gears
I think it will pass everything but the visual inspection. The Gen3 engines are very clean running.![]()

Fo sho. Greg is right--GM engineered the GenIII motors to run at a slightly higher operating temp--so that they could burn off all unwanted gasses. You should be good.

Visual would require all the emissions equipment from the donor, including all the EVAP crap.
Evap can be fooled by using a dummy setup. 2002 Camaro had hardly any emissions stuff other than cats, no EGR too.
