    stock 4L80E at 425rwhp ?

Been searching and calling around for built 4L60E's this morning.

Was told at 400+rwhp on 5,000+ lbs Tahoe I will need the billet output
shaft for my 4L60E. That puts it at a Lvl 5 FLT or Century transmission.

    Both run $2,800+ ......... ouch.

Saw the 4L60E to 80E sticky ........ doesnt look too hard.

Have seen that stock 4L80E will easily handle 400-450rwhp.
Is this true ? $800 stock 4L80E sounds lot better if it really will hold up.

I've been running a pretty much stock 80e with a 500HP NA enigine + a 125 shot for quite a few strip passes in my almost 5000 lb truck with problems. I cranked it up to 300HP and made about 20 passes before the stock forward sprag gave way.

Gonna hit 10psi and 400-425rwhp with this car, thats it, never going to
"turn it up" or get crazy with this build.

No hard launching at the drag strip
    No extreme towing

Just some quick street fun. I have hot rods when I feel the need for speed.

Suggestions on building my 4L60E for $1,500 and hold that power. ?
    Who to use ?

The 80e should last the life of your truck, then.

    Thanks guys,

Right now leaning towards finding a 4L80E in local junkyard
and just putting a shift kit and new converter in it.

It's not a direct swap but I'm sure you saw that if you read the how to. In your case I'd go for a built 60 but that's only because I'm cheap, would already have the 60, and could build it myself.

How hard is it to rebuild an automatic ???

I see the rebuild kits and shift kits for just a couple hundred bucks.

Autos scare the shyt out of me though. Sooooo many little parts
