Trade out the LT1 and go for a LS1. You will save an additional 75 lbs of engine weight. Find you a 2002 LS1 or LS6 and put it in instead. The stock LS1s put out about 350 hp without modifications and easily get to 400. The fuel mileage will be much better, too. If your heart is set on the LT1, buy the complete LT4 conversion kit from some place like GMPARTSDIRECT.COM. They have the lowest price on the kit that I have found so far. I believe SCAT makes a stroker kit for the LT1 for a 383 and they can help you with the compression level that you are trying to achieve. The LT4 cam is a good cam unless you are planning a full on drag car. If you plan on that, call COMP CAMS and get their assistance on cam selection but make sure you have all your info ready for them. They will need to know pretty much everything you have in your engine from stroke, length of rods, compression ratio you're planning on running, heads and if their ported.....
