I got out of class today and what do you know? Some dumbass stuck a screwdriver in the keyhole and opened my door and stole cd player, 2 amps, speakers, radar detector and 2 cases of cds. I guess what I am getting at is i didn't realize that these trucks were so easy to break in to. Anyhow has anyone else been broken into this way. Has anyone intstalled the doorhandles with out the keyholes on them.( the back door handles off a suburan , yukon or escalade)?

Same thing happened to my mom's EXT not long ago. That rear door handle idea might work just fine though.

time to go full wireless remote entry....pop-a-locks. You don't even have to fill the handles in, just cut the rods from the locks. If you have electronic keyless entry you really don't need the door key locks anyway. Remove the internal rod and only use your remote to unlock the doors. Next time they will just break a window out to get all that stuff people advertise is in their vehicles when they put the stereo stickers on the windows or drive around with the thumping sound system. It's kind of like putting a neon sign on your truck daring them to steal it or the stuff inside it.

My 2004 RC Silverado doesn't have a passengerside keyhole from the factory, so I'd say it's very possible that it's the same part as a rear suburban or tahoe door handle. You could get GM to cross-reference the part #'s.
With my luck my remote would go out or my battery would go dead and I wouldn't be able to get into my truck.

I HATE theives. Did this happen on the campus?

If so, make the Camus Po-po get to work. File a report with them and with the local law enforcement.

Yeah it happened on campus and a report has been filed. I am going to the insurance to let them look everything over. I have no stereo stickers and never played it loud to prevent things like this. I also have tinted windows. I think I might try the idea of taking off that rod and gettting an alarm with keyless entry.

I guess they had to steal the oh-four to carry all your stereo equipment in.
