Thread: Tuning and Shift points?

    Tuning and Shift points?

I just got EFI Live and i was wondering if anybody knows what some good shift points are for a 01 silverado 5.3 with pacesetter headers, ORY, flowmaster super 40, and K&N intake. Everything else is stock. If you could post some up, it would be greatly appreciated. Also anything else thats is of good knowledge while tuning.

Most of us have HPtuners.. But i will say it makes a big diff if you have a built trans or not. I shift mine at 6450 1-2 and 6400 2-3. Although that will not help you much b/c our trucks are not the same. I know some N/A guys that are shifting damn near 7k. If you rev your engine that high plan on replacing parts unless you have done your homework on springs, seats, pushrods and retainers. I think you will be safe shifting at 6200 and going from there.

You need to put it on a dyno and get some power numbers. You want to keep the engine in it's power curve and if you go over 6K rpm you really need some good springs like the Comp 928s or 921, PRC or Patriot duals.

If you have a stock cam I don't think there's a lot of gains over 6000....but I could be wrong. Mine shifts at 5900 1-2 and 5800 2-3. Your headers help. I have none.

0 shift times , 0 TM (torque management , both in engine section and trans section, max input and output shaft) , add 10% to line pressure 1-2 , 2-3 .
Higher 1-2 shift RPM you can shift at with a 4L60e the better , 1-2 is a large ratio difference .
5800 to 6000 is good on a stock cam .
Wide-band (LC-1 if you have V2 , digital data) and do AutoVE .

Do you have the V2 or V1 ?

Good unit , you can do a Custom OS with the Pro if you want .
With the addition of .cax files EFILive has a great tuning solution , some OS's can have "lean cruise" now , great for gas mileage .

well i took all the torque management out, everything is to zero including the axle torque managment. all shift times to zero on 1-2, 2-3. Also i did all of my tuning in the performance mode (tow haul) so everything is normal when in normal mode. Does anybody have a base map they wouldnt mind sharing with me so i can start on the motor. This is my first time tuning so all the help i can get is appreciated.
