    Nelson Performance...again

    thanks again to allen and crew for the great job you guys did on my 80e install and retune for the bigger turbo....yank sc3000,t76 turbo and 80e...didnt get to dyno but will get some numbers soon...thanks again...alton

    Did the converter bolt right in or did you have to replace the flywheel with the LS1 style? Don't worry about there only being three bolts holding it to the flexplate, mine is that way too and I abuse the hell out if a whole lot worse than any little turbo will.

    Yep...that's the worst thing about swapping an 80....six converter bolts (well, my THM400 had 6 too but...).

    Good call. I've yet to see a performance 80 in person but my non-clutch (obviously) GER 400 converter with 1/4" plates and billet stator was only $600 with a great warranty.

    Ya, the install went great, thanks Red.

    What a performance 80, performance converters have 3 bolts, wft, it's on!

    For those who need more info on the 80e swap, here's some additional info I'll add to the 80e how to page.

    When swaping the 60 for an 80, you can use an LS1 style converter or a GenIII truck style converter front cover, obviously it has to be made for an 80e trans.
    Both converters from Yank have 6 bolts for the flexplate.
    The LS1 converter has a longer snout so it'll go into the back of the crank.
    The Truck converter has a shorter snout.
    If using the LS1 converter, you can use your original 5.3L (at least from an '04) flexplate, it's the same as an LS1 flexplate. This design has a dish to it, which does the same thing as the spacer and flat 6L truck flexplate.
    If using the Truck converter, you'll need a 6L flexplate and a 6L spacer.
    An LS1 flexplate will not bolt up to a truck converter, unless drilling is done.

    To keep it simple, just use all truck parts from a 6L and order a converter for a truck and it'll all bolt up.

    That 80e ought to load that turbo really well and let it spool nicely. That truck ought to be a beast even if it doesn't have a 6.7L in it.
