I don't care who you are, 3:35 in the 1500m is ridicuous. Last Monday when I was at the gym, I wanted to see if I could still run a sub 5 minute mile. I had one of my trainer friends time me--I ran 800m of warm up and then did the timed mile. I finished with a 4:48. I did the calculations--and that averages 12.48 mph for a mile. I was happy to know as an old balding guy, that I could still do a sub 5 minute mile. I was damn near death afterwards--and there is NO WAY I could imagine trimming another minute off that. But then again, I guess that is why they are Olympians and I'm not.

No crap. That is ALL I care about--beating China in the medal count.

damnn 448 is not bad at all man. i did a 2mile time trial this morning. got her in at 9:50. First race is next weekend. Evidently one of the teams in our conference just picked up a kenyan so I have my work cutout for me.. but im not too worried because of the last kenyan I raced.

Yeah, i didn't think so--for being 28 and bald. Plus I haven't been running at all because I wanna gain weight. A 9:50 2 mile is fast as Hell man! I never trained for a 2 mile time, but at MSU I know I did a 10:36. And that was our second 2 mile. We ran 2-2 mile runs...the first half of the alphabet (A-M) went first, then once the last guy crossed the finish line for the first group, the second half (N-Z) went. And the same for the second 2 mile...once the last guy from the (N-Z) group finished, we ran another 2 miles. It was weird--cause my first 2 mile time was slower than my second--and I had about 15 minutes rest in between runs. Weird, I know.

im tellin you its them white kenyans youve gotta watch out for...
they look all normal and out of no where....BAM
theyre 5 miles down the road..

thats a narley 2 mile time. the last time i ran a 2 mile was my freshman year in highschool and it was like 10:10. that was the last time i ran more than a mile...but i havent timed in like 3-4 years.

p.s. about michael phelps....hes one of my heros but the thing i dont understand is the announcers and how they are all concerned about him only having like 45 min before his next race..
when i was a senior in highschool i swam the anchor leg of our 4x50 free relay...all out...and not even 10 min later i was swimming a 100 backstroke. i mean yeah hes at a whole different level than i ever will be but still 45 min is a hell of a long time in swimming

9:50 is not that great. but the fact I have just been logging miles all summer and no speed work I guess 950 is good.

I guess it was because phelps had to do 17 races. The heats and **** for his events

Oh, and an Olympic update...US women's sand volleyball just won GOLD!!! And who was it over??? That's right, the Chinese! ROR! And the thing that sucks is that they had to play the Gold medal match for sand volleyball in the rain. Mother Nature--FAIL.
