many of the drilled rotors are a standard vented rotor with holes drilled into it. this weakens the rotor surface more than anything. you should read about braking systems before making a decision to change your stock setup.
in most cases a shorter stopping distance wont be gained by changing the brakes however they may feel more aggressive, by using steel lines you could achieve the same effect.
the frictional limit of the tires is usually the factor in achieving shorter stopping distances. a larger rotor will work better to dissipate heat but unless youre road racing and really heating the brakes to beyond their capabilities it wont stop you any faster.

It doesn't take much do do that with factory brakes. Then you get FAAAAAAAAAAAADDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEeeeee.

I wish you were closer cause you could feel mine slam a good one and see the stopping distance from 100 to zero. You'd be sold on larger rotors.

i do know the benefits of larger rotors, and i do know when stopping such a heavy vehicle there is a tremendous amount of heat created. i will probably put larger rotors on my truck also mainly for safety, but i dont do a lot of high speed braking over and over. mainly because ill be using such a large off road tire.

i also want to get dual piston calipers in the front, but i wouldnt get a rotor that is vented and also cross drilled. there has been a lot of debate on this subject and there is nothing wrong with cross drilled rotors unless you take a stock rotor and drill it out like many aftermarket companies do.

It's alot of money but this is what I'm getting next. I have power slots on the truck now and they've been on my truck for 8 years now and just starting to crack. They are good but the rotors are too small for the weight and the single piston heats up quick because there's less surface area to grab. The drilled hole rotors work great but don't last like explained above. If you can afford SSBC Force10 brakes and already have 17" wheels you'll have stopping power like a vette.

The biggest part of braking is done on the front end. Get the best brakes you can for the front. Be sure to take into consideration the size of wheel you're going to settle for since you were talking about getting smaller wheels at one time.

what he said...lol i would get a big brake set up for the front, calipers, pads and rotors...

just buying better rotors and pads will help but a caliper change will give you optimal brakeing.

I only wish I had money! I work out homeboy deals to get things cheap if I can. I'm sure if you look around someone has a kit on ebay or craigslist they want to dump.
