With Nelsons harness it should be a breeze I still want one to play with.

I remember being TOTALLY lost when I had to begin the wiring too! LOL...Its not a good feeling not knowing where to go to learn, and UNDERSTAND the wiring to get these babys going. I went on E-Bay & bought Volume 2, of the Factory GM Service Manuel. There is a Volume 1 also, but that Volume covers mostly mechanical & body service, plus I'm cheap. Volume 2 has EVERYTHING you will need to easily figure out your wiring. It has all the diagrams that show each & every wire that exits your C-100 connector at the drivers side firewall, etc...which will help you to connect each dash gauge, A/C request wire, main keyed power wire, and on and on... Its simple after you have this book. I learned years ago that this is the only way to fly. Also, when your done, you can help others with simular questions.

Is this book year model dependent?

The GM Service Manuels are different for every/each model year. Your truck is a 1996, correct? Look on E-Bay for a 1996 Chevrolet/GMC C/K Service Manuel, Volume 2.

LOL, thanks! Once you get some wiring diagrams, things will come together. I wouldn't attempt anything without them. You can pretty much use your factory fuse box under the hood but you'll need to add relays for the electric fans somewhere.

I am trying to pull the 350 tomorrow and I have everything pulled but the wiring. How do you disconnect the wires on the passanger side firewall? Do you just cut them, also how do you approach the tangle of wires on the drivers side under the fuse box? I can't see any connectors on them...

Don't cut or remove any wires until you have the reworked or new harness in your hands. Remove all connections from the stock engine and save all the sensor that are hooked to the connectors, reconnect them to the harness after removing them from the engine so you'll know exactly what hooked to where. When you get the new harness grafted into the old, then cut wires that aren't being used. Leave the stock PCM in place to save numerous possible headaches.

if you're getting a custom harness made be sure to tell them how long you need the PCM leads or at least tell them where you plan to mount the PCM and they can tell you how to measure the amount of lead you'll need.
