First decent runs in a while...

So I was heading out to meet Mic to get my downpipe...merging from the service road onto I-20. I see a Volkswagen Golf GTI a few lanes over and back coming up quick. He was behind me and I stayed in front but we definitely got each others attention. Traffic didn't permit a side-by-side run, so it was just a lot of gun and go's when the opportunity presented itself. He kept up and may have passed me - I don't know - traffic never allowed for it. Cool dude though. We slowed down and chatted a little. Said he had a Magnum R/T being worked on or something. I thought there was a member on here with one so I asked if he was on the site and I thought he said yes. Hard to tell with the wind noise. Anyway, parted ways...maybe he'll see this and post.

On the way back, traffic was a little heavy - just enough to be annoying. Looked up in my rearview in time to see two crotch rockets zipping in and out and passed me a couple lanes over. Traffic clears enough for me to see them but they're way ahead. So I call ground control, they clear me for takeoff, and I'm haulin butt catching up to them (no traffic - keeping it safe). They had slowed down and saw me coming and did the whole turn-sideways-in-their-seats thing looking at me. They move over to the other lane and I pull up alongside. They look at each other and the one guy nods to the other one like 'you go'. He immediately tucks and twists the throttle (um, how about a beep or something?). When I saw him tuck though I punched it - of course he was already going. But I started reeling him in - it felt pretty awesome. He kept looking over his shoulder like he couldn't believe I was gaining. Got alongside him and walked on by. And he had that throttle twisted too, so I know he was all the way into it. I was pretty happy (I don't know my bikes, so I don't know what I beat).

Anyway, he looks back to his buddy who had been trailing us and nodded like 'come on - you get him'. Well his buddy obviously had a way faster bike. He tucks and he's screaming up on me. I figure maybe he'd pull up next to me so we could start evenly, but there came that point where it hit me that he isn't going to slow down. So I go WOT again while he was still behind me a little ways and stay ahead for a few seconds but he was already pretty deep into it and went on by me fairly easily. Whooptie-do - you had an 1/8th mile headstart! Neither one wanted a very fair race apparently. Probably scared of getting beat by a truck.

Anywho - I beat one and got beat. I was pretty happy though. This cam and gear combo is nice. Wished I had had the turbo and some spray. Would have been nice to burst their bubble a little.

The best advice I have ever heard:... Only take B( . Y . )ST advice from someone that is CURRENTLY running a turbo setup close to, or bigger than what you want......

I didn't look hard enough to know what kind of bikes they were. It just surprised me that I caught and passed the one.

Good to meet you too Mic. Thanks again for the pipe! And thanks to Brooke for running parts.

Yeah the tune definitely feels better Virgil. It has still stalled a couple of times when slowing down quickly. But I can deal til the turbo install when I get the full tune done.
