    96 chevy lt1 swap ??

    hey whats up im new the the truck and chevy life. i just bought a 96 silverado single cab shortbed step side with org.95,000mls i want to make tons off power so should i keep the 5.7l i have or swap to a lt1 and if a swap what would it all take? thanks for the help

    Don't do either of those. Make the swap to a LS based engine.

    Don't waste your time and money on an LT1 swap. Get a Gen3 6.0 or 5.3 into that thing and feel some real power.

    so the 5.7 i have isnt good and how much work is it to swap with a ls motor

    you already have a 5.7L LT1 engine or are you talking a 5.7L truck engine? I wouldn't waste my time on old technology. Read some of the stickies about converting to LSx engines here in the conversion section. Its really not that hard and we're here for you if and when you have questions.

    well i think i'm going to go ahead and go with the LT1 so i don't have to change motor mounts,computer, and tranny easy on the wallet lol .And have a homeboy has alot of extra performance parts for the LT1 head, cam, ect. then TWIN TURBOS lol one day

    lol i can make plenty of power with the lt1 im looking for about 650hp!!!

    I've thought about the same thing. All the LT1 vs. LS1 talk, really even my friend who is a mechanic at a Chevy dealership says all the same stuff: LS1 is hands down better.

    Depends on how deep your pockets are. If youv'e got the LT1 there are plenty of LT1/LS1 RESOURCES out there to help with the swap. It sounds like your leaning towards the Gen II BASE. Do you have the obd I pcm?
