OK, 8budfan was great to give me a set of 4.10 gears. 14 bolt 10.5 diameter.

So far the shops that I have called are quoting 600 to 750 bucks on the install. Man, I am in the wrong business. Anyway, I am looking for suggestions of a shop to install the gear or any of you members who want to make some money. When I got the gear I was guessing about 300 bucks for the install. Maybe my guess was wayyyyyyyy off.

Post or PM me if anyone has suggestions.

Okay, where do you live? What kind of vehicle? 2 or 4 wheel drive? If you're in Houston call 4wheelparts, they do them all the time and have the proper tools to set the pinion depth correctly first time out.

Live in Houston, 2 wheel drive. I guess I could call and see if they will install the gear. I have to go back in and have them install a new set of headers anyway. I will call on monday.

    Thanks

Yea, Four wheel drive parts will install a brand new gear with labor for less than 600.00

I have not tried the phone book and some of the speed shops yet. I would like to be in the 300 to 400 range if possible.

    WhtHD,

Hey man 4 wheel parts wanted like 700 bucks to do mine, there is a place in Pearland that wanted about 580, but I got my Richmond 3.90 gears installed in Houston around 249/west mount houston rd. Place called Horsepower Engineering. They deal with mostly f-bodys, but did a great job and I will be going back for other mods to them. Talk to a guy by the name of Chuck Anders, he is on ls1tech.com all the time.

Oh by the way, they did mine for like 450 on a saturday.

Well, let me clarify, here in houston

    4Wheel Parts wanted $700
    Texas Trucks Unlimited wanted $580
Got it done @ Horsepower Engineering for $450 but all these prices include:

    Gears about $150
    Install kit like $90
    Installation was like 225

All in all it cost me about 450 I got new plugs and wires at the same time so I'm not sure how much of tax was included for just the gears and all. But I didn't think that was too bad.

I called 4 wheel drive parts today after I found a 50% of installation coupon in the July edition of off road. They said they didnt know about the discount and would have to get back to me. No word as of yet.

I will be in the 249 area tommorow and will check out Horspower engineering.

Hey blown02, for that price I may drive to cali

BTW, just got 300 miles on the new 98 tune from allen. swapped from a duel tune to 98 tune. So far runs real good. some shifting issues around 100 mph with drive and OD. Will PM allen later.

Thanks for all the input, all is welcome
