5.3 swap, just a quick question?

I have a 1992 chevy 1500 with a 700r4 tranny. when i put the 5.3 in the truck will i have to switch tranmissions or can i run my 700?

i have a 93 that i plan to put a 5.3 in and from what i have heard u can. dont take my word on it though maybe some one with more wisdom will chime in.

Yes, you can run the 700r4 but why would you want to other than to save some money. Sell the r4 and get a 60 or 80e so the PCM can control the shifts for you. A drive by wire (electronic) throttle body won't be able to control a 700r4, no cable or throttle arm to hook to.

yeah im doin to save money and im doin cable not drive by wire cause i dont the extra wiring.
