    Burning Up Alternators

Things with the 5.3 are all well but I am on my thrid alternator.
Man I love this motor, it will literally launch my Jeep.

There are only 2 wires so how hard could it be?

10 ga wire off the alternator post to the battery.

18 ga (or so) wire from the key to the exciter wire plug.

The only thing I can think of is that the exciter wire should have some sort of resistance? With the key on the exciter wire is receiving whatever volts that are in the system (depending on what the battery is charged at).

usually on a two wire setup you have the large battery wire and the little wire is supposed to go to a light bulb on the dash. I'm thinking power should go to the bulb and the alternator supplies the ground, so the light bulb is the resistor you were speaking of.
